Instruction For Authors

1. Manuscripts submitted to the Korean Journal of Environmental Biology must not have been published, accepted for publication, or be under consideration elsewhere. Three types of manuscripts, article, review and note, are published in the journal. 2. Author is required to be a member of the Korean Society of Environmental Biology.

3. Preparation of Manuscript
1) All manuscripts should be written in Korean or English using the word- processor program of HWP or MS-WORD. Manuscript submitted must be formatted on A4-size paper.
2) The manuscript should have the title, author(s)'s name and affiliation(s), address, telephone, fax, and e-mail address of corresponding author, and Running title on the title page.
3) Scientific name of organisms should be in italic.
4) The guideline of the Ministry of Education (2000) is useful for the spelling of the Korean geographical name in English.
5) SI (Syst m International) units should be used (e.g., μg-1, mgC cm-3 hr-1).
6) Captions of tables, figures and plates should be written in English. The cost of color photographs must be paid by the author.

4. Format of Manuscripts
1) Manuscripts in general should be organized in the following order; Title, Name(s) of author(s) and affiliation(s), Running title, Abstract(including 5 Key words), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Acknowledgement, and References.
2) Title, author(s)'s name(s) and affiliation(s) should be written in both English and Korean.
3) Name of the corresponding author is marked with asterisk (*), and telephone and fax numbers and e-mail address should be sent.
4) Last name comes first followed by family name.
5) The English abstract should not be longer than 250 words. Five Key words and running title(within 10 words) in English should be submitted.
6) The list of references should be arranged alphabetically on author's names, and chronologically per author.

7) Authors who want to submit a review paper should contact the Editor-in-Chief first.
8) Notes should be short and include methods, results and discussion in a single sections.

5. Submission and Review of Manuscripts
1) Authors should submit their original manuscripts to submission system through the web site (
2) All manuscripts are treated as confidential. They are peer-reviewed by at least 3 anonymous reviewers selected by editor in chief.
3) Acceptance of manuscripts for publication is decided in the Editorial Board.
4) Galley proofs should be corrected by the authors.
5) The publication fee is KRW (\) 230,000 up to 6 pages, KRW (\) 60,000 per additional page, and KRW (\)150,000 per color page to the authors.
6) The reprint cost is free up to 20 copies, and KRW (\)500 per additional copy to the authors.

6. For the policies on the research and publication ethics not stated in this instructions, International standards for editors and authors ( editors-and-authors) can be applied.

7. Description of study subjects
Ensure correct use of the terms sex (when reporting biological factors) and gender (identity, psychosocial or cultural factors), and, unless inappropriate, report the sex or gender of study participants, the sex of animals or cells, and describe the methods used to determine sex or gender. If the study was done involving an exclusive population, for example in only one sex, authors should justify why, except in obvious cases (e.g., prostate cancer). Authors should define how they determined race or ethnicity and justify their relevance.

8. Copyright.
All copyrights of published papers, reviews and notes belong to Korean Society of Environmental Biology while the author holds all responsibility for the information (material, results, and etc) covered in the article or paper.
