Complaints and Appeals

Korean Journal of Environmental Biology (KJEB) strives to protect authors, reviewers, editors, publishers, and readers. In cases not covered below, complaints and appeals are handled in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE; https://publicationethics.org/appeals).

1. Entity Submitting Complaints or Appeals

All individuals associated with KJEB, including manuscript submitters, authors, reviewers, and readers, may raise complaints or appeals. Examples of issues include forgery, manipulation, plagiarism, duplicate publication, conflicts of interest, ethical lapses, unfair and inappropriate practices, as well as legal matters such as copyright infringement, data theft, and defamation. These issues can be addressed by contacting the editorial office via e-mail. When submitting complaints or appeals, it is essential to provide specific details (who, when, where, what, how, and why) as evidence.

2. Resolution and Handling of Complaints or Appeals

The Editor-in-chief, along with the Editorial Board, discusses and makes decisions regarding received complaints and appeals. Depending on the nature of the complaint or appeal, the Editor-in-chief may request a review and decision from the Research Ethics Committee (REC). More information about the REC can be found at http://www.ebr.or.kr/sub/sub4_4.html.

3. Outcome of Complaints or Appeals

The outcome of complaints or appeals varies depending on their nature and severity. The results of handling are primarily determined by the investigation and decision of the REC, following guidelines outlined by COPE.
